Inner Range Access Control Melbourne

Inner Range · An installer's brief
Inner Range access control — Integriti or Inception?

Almost every Inner Range quote comes down to one decision, and it isn't the one most people expect. It's rarely about door count. Here's how we actually choose between the two platforms, and what it costs you to get it wrong.

AustralianMelbourne-basedIntegriti + InceptionAccess & intruder in one

Why Inner Range comes up in so many Melbourne quotes

Inner Range is an Australian access control manufacturer, designed and built here, and it turns up on more Victorian commercial and government-adjacent tender lists than any imported equivalent. The other reason it gets specified is less obvious: it does access control and intruder alarm on the same panel, which means one system, one credential and one set of reporting instead of two systems that don't talk.

What actually matters when you specify Inner Range

Six things we weigh up before recommending it for a site.

Access and intruder together

One panel handles doors and alarm areas. Arm the building by badging out, not by remembering a separate keypad code.

Australian origin

Designed and manufactured in Australia, with local support and parts. On procurement-sensitive sites that answers a question before it's asked.

Software vs browser

Integriti runs management software; Inception is administered from a browser with nothing to install. This single difference drives most of the cost gap.

Integration reach

Ties into CCTV, lift control, intercoms and building systems. The value only lands if whoever installs it also understands those systems.

Remote management

Both platforms support secure remote access for administration and support, so a lockout or a new starter doesn't always need a site visit.

Licensing & ongoing cost

Integriti scales by licensed doors, users and features. Ask what a second building or another 50 users costs before you sign, not after.

Integriti or Inception — how we actually decide

The honest answer is that door count is a poor guide. We've put Inception on sites with more doors than an Integriti job down the road. What decides it is how the building is administered and who has to touch the system.

  • Inception — browser-managed, no server and no client software. Right for a single site, or a handful of sites, where one office manager or facilities person administers users and the requirement is doors, areas and alarm reporting done properly.
  • Integriti — the enterprise platform. Right when you need multiple sites under one system, role-based operator permissions, deeper integration with CCTV and building services, or reporting and audit trails that satisfy someone other than you.
The question that actually decides it

Not "how many doors?" but "who administers this in three years, how many buildings will be on it, and who is going to ask for an audit trail?" A site that will absorb two more tenancies, or a business that expects to tender for government work, is usually an Integriti job even if it starts small. A single well-run building is usually an Inception job even if it's a big one. Getting this wrong is expensive in one direction and irritating in the other.

Taking over an existing Inner Range system

A large share of the Inner Range work we do is inherited — a building changes hands, an installer stops answering the phone, or nobody can find who holds the master credential. In most cases the panel is fine and doesn't need replacing. What's needed is control of the system back: documented door and area programming, a fresh credential list with the ex-staff removed, remote support re-established and a service arrangement that doesn't depend on one person's mobile number. If you have an Inner Range system and no installer, that's a conversation worth having before something fails.

Access control is rarely the only system

Inner Range earns its price when it stops being a standalone door controller. On the sites we work on, that usually means access control tied to CCTV so a door-forced event has footage attached to it, intercoms at the front entrance and delivery gate, and in healthcare, coordination with nurse call and duress systems. We install all of those, which is the practical reason the integration actually gets commissioned rather than just being on the datasheet.

Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula and regional Victoria

We install and service Inner Range across Melbourne from our Cheltenham base, down through the bayside suburbs and the Mornington Peninsula, and into regional Victoria including the alpine region.

Where Inner Range fits — and where to take care

Where Inner Range fits

  • Sites wanting access control and intruder alarm as one system
  • Multi-tenancy and multi-site commercial buildings
  • Healthcare, aged care and education facilities
  • Government-adjacent sites and anyone tendering for public work
  • Buildings needing real audit trails and role-based operator access
  • Inheriting an existing Inner Range panel from another installer

Where to take care

  • Single-door jobs — the platform is more than the site needs
  • Homes and very small offices with no alarm requirement
  • Budgets that don't account for licensing as the system grows
  • Sites with nobody nominated to administer users
  • Anyone buying Integriti purely on door count without asking about operators or sites
Why Peninsula Smart Care

We'll tell you which platform, and why — before you commit

We're a licensed Melbourne electronic security and healthcare communications integrator with over 20 years in the trade. We design, install, commission and support Inner Range systems, and we'll put the platform question in writing so you can see the reasoning rather than take it on trust.

Because we also install the CCTV, intercom and nurse call systems that access control is supposed to talk to, the integration gets specified properly at design stage instead of being discovered as a problem at handover. See our full access control service.

  • Licensed Victorian security installer
  • Access control, CCTV, intercom and nurse call under one contractor
  • Takeover and documentation of orphaned systems
  • Specialists in healthcare, aged-care, schools & government-adjacent sites
