Dahua TiOC Cameras for Home Security

Dahua TiOC · Active deterrence for the home
Dahua TiOC for home security — the camera that warns intruders off, not just watches.

Most cameras only record what happens. Dahua's TiOC ("Three-in-One Camera") does more — it spots a person on your property, lights up in red and blue, sounds a 110dB siren, and can play a warning message, all before they've reached your door. It's the camera brand we reach for first when a homeowner wants deterrence, not just footage.

What makes TiOC different from a normal camera?

A standard camera waits for something to happen and records it. TiOC acts while it's happening — full-colour footage day and night, AI that tells a person from a possum, and an active response (lights and siren) the moment someone enters the area you've defined. For a home, driveway or holiday property, that's the difference between a camera that documents a break-in and one that helps prevent it.

What TiOC actually does

Six things built into every TiOC camera, working together.

Full-colour, day and night

Dahua's Full-Color technology delivers real colour footage 24/7, not grainy black-and-white night vision — far easier to identify a person, vehicle or numberplate later.

Active deterrence

Red and blue warning lights plus a 110dB siren trigger automatically when someone enters your defined zone — loud and visible enough to make most intruders leave before doing anything.

AI that ignores your cat

Built-in AI tells people and vehicles apart from pets, insects, leaves and headlight glare — keeping false alarms under 2%, so alerts on your phone actually mean something.

Two-way talk-down

Play a pre-recorded warning automatically, or speak live through the camera from the app — useful for anyone from a delivery driver to an unwanted visitor.

Smart, not blinding, lighting

Cameras stay in discreet infrared mode until something's actually detected, then switch to warm light — so you're not lighting up the whole street, or annoying the neighbours, all night.

Strong value for the home

TiOC packs active deterrence, AI and full-colour recording into one camera — no need to bolt on a separate floodlight, alarm siren and camera to get the same result.

A look at Dahua's TiOC technology on one of their PTZ cameras — active deterrence, full-colour night vision and AI detection in a real review.

How TiOC actually stops trouble before it starts

When TiOC detects a person or vehicle inside the area you've set, it runs through a sequence: the camera switches from infrared to full colour, the AI confirms it's a real target (not a possum or a passing car's headlights), and if they move into your defined "rule area" — typically right at the house, not the far end of a driveway — the red and blue lights and siren activate. You can set your own alarm sound or warning message, or talk to them directly through the app.

It's built for exactly the scenario a homeowner cares about: someone at the door or window late at night, well before they've had a chance to try anything.

Full colour, not grainy night vision

Most budget cameras switch to black-and-white infrared at night, which makes clothing, vehicle colour and faces much harder to identify. TiOC's Full-Color technology keeps recording in real colour after dark, which matters far more than resolution alone when you're trying to describe what actually happened.

AI that keeps alerts meaningful

The most common reason people turn notifications off is false alarms — a cat walking past, a tree branch moving, a car's headlights sweeping the yard. TiOC's AI is tuned specifically to classify people and vehicles and filter everything else out, which is why Dahua quotes a false alarm rate under 2%. In practice that means the alerts you get are the ones worth looking at.

Buying for a business or considering government work?

Dahua carries the same country-of-origin consideration as Hikvision — both brands were named in the Australian Government's 2023 removal from Defence and other agency sites. For a home this almost never matters. If you're outfitting a business that tenders for government or enterprise contracts, read the full breakdown on our Hikvision compliance page before choosing a brand.

Prefer to stay in Hikvision's ecosystem? Ask about HiLook

If you're already leaning toward Hikvision — perhaps for a future upgrade path or because you want everything on one app — we also supply and install HiLook, Hikvision's residential value line. It's built in the same factories to the same core quality standards, at a lower price point than the flagship Hikvision range, and it's a genuinely good fit for straightforward home coverage. Why Peninsula Smart Care

We tune the deterrence, not just fit the camera

TiOC is only as good as its setup. The "rule area" that triggers the siren and lights needs to be drawn tightly around your actual property — too wide and it fires on every passing car; too narrow and it misses someone at the door. We configure that zone-by-zone for your site, not left on factory defaults.

We're brand-independent and happy to talk you through Dahua TiOC against Hikvision, HiLook or UniFi Protect for your specific property — whichever actually suits how you live, not whichever we have the most stock of.

  • Rule-area and sensitivity tuned to your property, not left on default
  • Brand-independent — we'll tell you if a different camera suits you better
  • Full setup of app alerts, warning messages and recording
  • Ongoing support after installation
