Network audio in action at Monash Health and Peninsula Health

At Peninsula Smart Care we design and install commercial network (IP) audio — and two recent projects at major Victorian health services show what it can do right at the front door. Using Axis network speakers and Axis Audio Manager, we helped deliver clear, scheduled spoken messages at hospital entrances to support smoke-free and vape-free environments.

Monash Health: smoke-free and vape-free messaging

As part of a smoke-free and vape-free pilot, audio announcements now play over speakers at the entrances to Monash Children's Hospital and Monash Medical Centre, reinforcing new on-site signage. The recordings were voiced by school students, parents and staff — a friendly, local way to remind everyone that the grounds are smoke- and vape-free. Peninsula Health: anti-smoking announcements at the door

Peninsula Health piloted a broadcasting system that plays announcements discouraging smoking close to entrances, then expanded it to more sites — including Peninsula University Hospital, Frankston and Rosebud. The announcements were recorded in partnership with local grade-six students. Peninsula Health's story is here.

Why network audio is a good fit

Both projects run on Axis network audio, where each speaker connects to the standard data network and is powered over Ethernet — no separate amplifiers or dedicated audio cabling. That keeps installation simple and makes the system easy to live with:

• Zoning — send the right message to the right area, from a single entrance to a whole campus.
• Scheduling and live announcements — play messages on a timetable or on demand.
• Central management — control one site or many from Axis Audio Manager.
• Security integration — tie audio into CCTV and access control so announcements can be triggered by events.

Where else it fits

The same approach suits far more than hospitals — retail floors, schools, warehouses, offices, car parks and other public spaces all benefit from clear paging, background music and emergency messaging.
