Construction sites

Security at night, safety by day, one camera system.

Builders buy cameras for theft and after-hours intrusion. The same cameras can run PPE and exclusion-zone checks during the shift, and the security side stops false-alarming on tarps and wildlife.

  • PPE at the gate and in live zones — hard hat and hi-vis checked on every person, compliance logged by the hour, misses sent to the supervisor.
  • Exclusion zones around plant — a person inside an excavator's swing radius is an alert, not a near-miss report a week later.

A fence line that only calls when it's a person.

Most perimeter systems are turned off within a year because they cry wolf. A trained detector on a visible or thermal camera tells a person climbing the fence from a fox, a plastic bag or a storm, and holds that judgement at 2am.

Foot traffic and dwell tell you whether the window display works and how many staff the floor needs. Behaviour-based loss prevention flags the situations that matter without facial recognition, which keeps you clear of the privacy findings that have caught larger retailers.

Hotspot warning hours before there's smoke.

Resource-recovery sites in Victoria carry a fire risk management obligation under the EPA's combustible waste rules, and a pile can smoulder for hours before a smoke detector or a person notices. A thermal camera with a trained threshold model watches the stockpile temperature around the clock and alarms on a rise, not just a flame.

  • Stockpiles, bunkers and battery stores monitored by zone, each with its own threshold and rate-of-rise alarm.
  • False positives filtered — exhausts, sun-heated metal and plant working the pile are learned and ignored.
  • A record for the regulator — temperature history per zone, exported for the fire risk management plan.

Privacy and hardware

Privacy

No cloud. No faces. No footage leaving the building.

The processing unit lives on your network. It looks at frames, decides whether an event happened, and keeps a snapshot only when one did.

  • No facial recognition. Faces are never analysed, matched or stored. People are counted and tracked as “a person”, not as who they are.
  • Plates only where you need them, at gates and car parks, held against your own list and nowhere else.
  • Your footage is yours. Training clips are reviewed with you and deleted when the model is signed off.
  • Signage and policy help so what you deploy lines up with the Privacy Act and your site's own rules.

A fanless box on the camera network, sized to the stream count. Runs four to eight cameras per unit; stack units for more.

Solar and 4G for sites with no power

For construction and remote yards: cameras, processing and a 4G link on a solar trailer or pole, reporting back over an encrypted tunnel.

Thermal for fence lines and stockpiles

Where the perimeter is long or unlit, or a stockpile needs watching for heat, a thermal camera plus a model trained on thermal footage does the job at night without floodlights.

Common questions

What site managers ask us first.

Will it work with the cameras I already have?
Usually, yes. Any camera that provides an RTSP or ONVIF stream can be used, which covers nearly everything installed in the last ten years. Resolution and placement matter more than brand. If a camera is too low, too dark or pointed the wrong way for the job, we'll say so at the site assessment rather than after.
Do I need to replace my Milestone or Inception system?
No. The analytics sit alongside. Events are pushed into Milestone XProtect as alarms and bookmarks, or into Inner Range Inception as inputs, so your operators keep the screens and procedures they already know.
How accurate is it, really?
We give you numbers, not adjectives. Each model is tested on footage it wasn't trained on, and you get the detection rate and false-alarm rate in writing before go-live. Typical results for person and vehicle detection on a reasonable camera are well above what built-in analytics achieve, and PPE and custom classes depend on how visible the item is from your camera angles. That is exactly what the pilot is for.
Does it use facial recognition?
No. We don't deploy facial recognition on this platform. People are detected as people, which is enough for counting, zones, PPE and after-hours alarms. Number-plate reading is available where you need it at gates and car parks, held against your own authorised list.
Is the thermal hotspot monitoring a fire detection system?
No, and we won't describe it as one. Fire detection and alarm systems in Australia are governed by AS 1670 and installed by licensed fire contractors. Thermal hotspot monitoring is an early-warning layer that sits alongside that system: it watches for temperature rises in stockpiles, bunkers and stores and alarms to your site and security system so someone can act before there is smoke. It is the kind of measure resource-recovery sites use to meet their fire risk management obligations, and it does not change the fire system you are required to have.
Where does the footage go?
Nowhere. Processing happens on a unit on your own network. It keeps a snapshot for each event so you can see why an alarm fired, and that stays on site with your recorder. Nothing is streamed to a cloud service.
What about a construction site with no power or internet?
We supply a solar-powered trailer or pole with cameras, the processing unit and a 4G link. It reports alarms over an encrypted connection and can be moved as the site progresses. Zones are redrawn from a phone when the layout changes.
How long does it take and what does it cost?
A pilot on existing cameras is typically a few weeks from site visit to live alarms. Cost depends on the number of cameras and whether the job needs a standard model or a custom-trained one. We quote per site after the assessment, and a pilot on your existing cameras is the usual starting point.
Which areas do you cover?
We install and support across Melbourne and regional Victoria. Remote sites are supported over the same encrypted link the trailers use.
