What AcuSeek actually does
AcuSeek is natural-language search for recorded video. Rather than selecting a camera, picking a time window and watching, you type what you're looking for and the recorder returns the clips that match. Queries look like ordinary sentences:
Behind it sits a large multimodal AI model that reads both the imagery and your description, then matches them on meaning rather than on rigid filter categories. That's the important difference from older systems: you aren't restricted to a fixed dropdown of attributes, so the search can follow how people actually describe things.
Hikvision reports that investigations which previously took around 45 minutes of manual review can be completed in under 10 seconds. That figure is the manufacturer's own and will vary with site, camera quality and how the system is configured — but the order-of-magnitude change is real, and it is why this feature is worth specifying rather than treating as a novelty.
AcuSeek and AcuSearch are not the same thing
They are complementary, and the distinction matters when you're comparing models:
- AcuSeek finds the target in the first place, from a typed description.
- AcuSearch takes that result and refines it visually, correlating where else the same subject appears across the other connected cameras.
In practice you use one then the other: find the person, then trace their route through the site. Ask any supplier which of the two a given recorder actually supports, because they are listed separately on the spec sheets.
Plenty of AI video search is sold as a cloud service, which means uploading your footage to somebody else's servers and paying every month to keep the feature. Hikvision runs this on the recorder itself.
